Send Money to GCash from Abroad: Partners and Cheapest Option by Country
By the MoneyTransfer.ph team (Dominet BV). Updated · Facts checked · How we compare
The short answer
- GCash publishes an official list of international remittance partners for each sender country. Use a partner on that list, or a licensed provider that pays GCash through local rails (such as Wise).
- Your recipient needs a fully verified GCash account and the name must match.
- The cheapest option depends on your country. Compare pesos received in two or three apps on the day you send.
"Pa-GCash na lang." It's the most common request OFW families make now. Money arrives on the phone in minutes, no queue, no ID at the counter. But which app can send to GCash depends on where you are. This page maps GCash's official remittance partners by sender country and explains how to pick the cheapest one.
GCash remittance partners by country
The table below summarises GCash's official remittance partner list for the countries most Filipinos send from, as published on the GCash Help Center and checked on 21 Oct 2026. We list the consumer-facing names; GCash's full list also includes payment networks that work behind the scenes (such as Thunes, Terrapay or Tranglo), which you won't use directly.

Lists change. Before you send with a new app, open the GCash Help Center article "Official remittance partners" and check that your app is listed for your country.
What about Wise? Wise isn't on GCash's remittance partner list, but Wise's help centre says it sends PHP to GCash, Maya and other Philippine wallets (up to 50,000 PHP per wallet transfer). It pays through the Philippines' local transfer system, so the money still lands in the GCash wallet. Wise serves senders in the US, UK, Canada, Japan, Europe, Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong, but not yet from the UAE or Saudi Arabia.
How to find the cheapest way to send to GCash
- Shortlist two or three apps from the table for your country.
- Enter the same amount in each, with GCash or mobile wallet as the delivery method.
- Compare the pesos received. Not the fee, not the headline rate. The final PHP number.
- Check how you'll pay. Bank-funded transfers are usually cheaper than card-funded ones.
- Look at first transfer promos if you're new to an app. See first transfer promos.
As a benchmark, compare the app's rate with today's reference rate for your currency on the send money to the Philippines hub. The gap between the two is the provider's margin.
What your recipient needs
- A fully verified GCash account. Verification raises limits and is often required for international remittances.
- The right mobile number. The 11-digit number registered to GCash.
- A matching name. GCash's help page on remittances says the receiver's name and number must match their GCash account.
- Enough room in the wallet. GCash applies balance and incoming limits by account type. Check the GCash app for current limits before a big transfer.
Why GCash's own partner list matters
Anyone can claim on Facebook that they "send to GCash". The official partner list tells you which companies GCash itself works with in your country, so the money moves through a channel GCash recognises. That helps in three ways: fewer rejected transfers, a clear path for tracing a missing transfer (both the provider and GCash can see it), and less exposure to informal "padala" agents who take cash and promise a GCash credit later. If an agent isn't a licensed provider in your country and isn't on the list, don't use them, even if a kababayan recommends them.
Two ways money reaches GCash
Direct to wallet
Most apps (Remitly, Wise, WorldRemit, Xoom, Panda Remit, Sendwave and others) credit the wallet directly. Your recipient gets a notification and the balance updates.
Claim with a reference number
Some services, like Western Union, give you a tracking number (MTCN). Your recipient opens GCash, taps Cash In, chooses Global Banks and Partners or the remittance partner, and enters the details to claim. GCash's help page describes this flow under "How to send remittance to GCash".
Limits: provider side and GCash side
Two sets of limits apply to every transfer:
- Provider limits depend on your verification level in your sending country. Wise and WorldRemit both mention 50,000 PHP as the maximum per transfer to a wallet.
- GCash limits depend on your recipient's account. They cover wallet balance and monthly incoming amounts.
For larger amounts like tuition, hospital bills or a house payment, a bank deposit is usually the better route. GCash is great for regular allowances.
Country notes
- USA: the most partners. Bank-funded transfers are cheaper but slower; since 1 January 2026, paying a provider in cash carries a 1% US remittance tax.
- UAE: exchange houses (Lulu, Al Fardan, Wall Street Exchange, Instant Cash) compete with apps like Remitly and wallets like e&money. Many accept payment in branch or in app.
- Saudi Arabia: GCash's list for Saudi is short, mainly Western Union, MoneyGram, Ria and Saudi Arabia British Bank. Popular local bank remittance services (Enjaz, Tahweel Al Rajhi) aren't on GCash's partner list, so check in the app whether a GCash payout is offered before you rely on it.
- UK and Canada: strong app competition. Compare Remitly, WorldRemit, Sendwave and Wise.
- Japan: Japanese remittance companies like SBI Remit and Kyodai Remittance are official GCash partners, alongside Remitly. You'll need your Residence Card and My Number to register.
GCash or Maya?
Maya is the other big e-wallet in the Philippines, and several providers, including Remitly and Wise, list it as a payout option too. Maya's own international remittance partner list is shorter than GCash's in most countries. If your family already uses Maya, check whether your app supports it as a destination; otherwise GCash has the wider coverage. Wise says its 50,000 PHP per transfer cap applies to all Philippine wallets, Maya included.
What your family can do once the money lands
Once the pesos are in GCash, your recipient can:
- Pay bills (Meralco, water, internet) and buy load directly in the app.
- Send to other GCash users for free, or to banks through InstaPay (a fee may apply).
- Pay with QR at stores and groceries that accept GCash.
- Cash out at partner outlets (some pawnshops, convenience stores and banks). Cash-out fees can apply, so check the app.
That flexibility is why GCash payouts are popular, but it also means the money is easy to spend. Some families keep a separate bank account for savings and use GCash only for the monthly budget.
Avoid GCash remittance scams
- Only use apps on GCash's official list or well-known licensed providers.
- Never send to a GCash number you got from a stranger, an online seller you haven't verified, or a "recruiter".
- GCash and remittance companies won't ask you to pay a fee to release money. That's a scam.
- If someone claims to be a relative with a new number, call them on the old number first.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send money to GCash from abroad?
Yes. GCash works with remittance partners in dozens of countries. Pick an app on GCash's official partner list for your country, choose GCash or mobile wallet as the delivery method, and enter your recipient's GCash number and name.
Which app is cheapest for sending to GCash?
There's no single answer. It depends on your country, the amount, how you pay and any promo. Compare the pesos received in two or three apps on the day you send. In many corridors, Remitly, Wise, WorldRemit and Panda Remit are worth a quote.
Do I need a GCash account to send money to GCash from abroad?
No. Your recipient needs GCash. You only need an account with the remittance provider. GCash Overseas exists for Filipinos abroad who want their own wallet, but it isn't required to send.
How long does it take?
Usually minutes once your payment is accepted, especially when you pay by card. Bank-funded transfers can wait for your payment to clear first.
Why was my GCash transfer rejected?
Common reasons: the name doesn't match the GCash account, the number is wrong, the account isn't fully verified, or the wallet hit its limit. The provider usually refunds rejected transfers. Contact them with your reference number.
Is GCash regulated?
GCash is operated by G-Xchange, Inc., which is supervised by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas as an electronic money issuer. The remittance provider you send with is regulated in your sending country.
