Send Money to GCash from the USA: Apps Compared by Pesos Received
By the MoneyTransfer.ph team (Dominet BV). Updated · Facts checked · How we compare
The short answer
- Yes, you can send dollars straight to a GCash wallet. GCash's official US partner list includes Remitly, Western Union, Xoom, WorldRemit, MoneyGram, Ria, Panda Remit and Sendwave. Wise also pays to GCash.
- Your recipient needs a fully verified GCash account, and the name you enter must match it.
- Wallet transfers have caps (Wise: 50,000 PHP per transfer) and GCash has its own limits, so split large amounts or use a bank deposit.
- Compare the pesos received for the same amount in two or three apps before you send.
Para sa maraming pamilya, GCash na ang default. The money arrives on the phone, they can pay bills, buy load or cash out at a partner outlet, and nobody has to line up at a pawnshop. Sending dollars directly to a GCash wallet from the US is now routine. The question is which app leaves the most pesos in the wallet.

Apps that send from the USA to GCash
GCash publishes an official list of remittance partners by country on its Help Center. For the United States, the list (checked 21 Oct 2026) includes Remitly, Western Union, Xoom, WorldRemit, MoneyGram, Ria, Panda Remit, Sendwave and several smaller or business-to-business names. GCash recommends transacting only with official partners.
Wise isn't named on that list, but Wise's own help centre says it sends PHP to GCash, Maya and other Philippine wallets, up to 50,000 PHP per wallet transfer. Wise pays through local Philippine transfer rails rather than as a GCash remittance partner, so the money still lands in the wallet.

Note: when provider estimates go live on this site, they'll come from Wise's comparison data, which covers bank transfer pay-in and bank pay-out only. We will never present those numbers as a GCash price. For GCash, check the live quote in each app.
What your recipient needs
- A GCash account that is fully verified. GCash ties limits and features to verification. Unverified or semi-verified accounts may not be able to receive international remittances, or may hit low limits.
- The mobile number registered to GCash. A wrong digit sends the money to someone else's wallet or makes the transfer fail.
- A name that matches. Enter the recipient's full name exactly as registered in GCash. GCash's help page on receiving remittances says the receiver's name and number must match the account.
- Room in the wallet. GCash applies wallet balance and incoming limits based on the account. If the wallet is near its limit, the transfer can be rejected or returned.
Tip: bago ka mag-send ng malaking halaga, ask your recipient to check their GCash limits in the app, then send a small test amount first if it's a new app or a new recipient.
Limits to know
- Per transfer, provider side. Wise caps wallet payouts at 50,000 PHP per transfer according to its PHP transfer guide. WorldRemit's GCash page also mentions a 50,000 PHP maximum per transfer to GCash. Other apps set their own caps by verification level.
- GCash side. GCash sets wallet and monthly incoming limits by account type. These change, so check the GCash app for the current figures rather than any blog list.
- Your US limits. New accounts start with lower sending limits that rise as you verify your identity.
For amounts above wallet caps, such as tuition or a down payment, a bank deposit to BDO, BPI or another bank is usually smoother. Our USA to the Philippines page covers bank options.
How fast does money reach GCash?
Most app transfers to GCash are credited within minutes once your payment is accepted. Card-funded transfers are usually the fastest. Bank-funded (ACH) transfers often wait one to three business days for your payment to clear before the wallet is credited. Compliance checks can add time on any transfer, especially the first one.
Step by step: sending dollars to GCash
- Open the provider's app and choose Philippines as the destination.
- Select mobile wallet or GCash as the delivery method.
- Enter the amount in USD and compare the PHP amount shown.
- Add your recipient's full name and GCash mobile number (starts with 09 or +63 9).
- Choose how to pay: bank account, debit card or credit card.
- Review the fee, rate and pesos received, then confirm.
- Your recipient gets an SMS or GCash notification when the money arrives.
With Western Union, some transfers to GCash use the MTCN (tracking number): the recipient opens GCash, taps Cash In, picks the remittance partner and enters the details. Western Union's GCash page says the recipient needs a fully registered GCash profile.
Fees and rates for GCash payouts
GCash payouts are often priced a little differently from bank deposits in the same app. Some providers charge a slightly higher fee or use a slightly different rate for wallets. The only fair comparison is the pesos received:
| What to compare | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Pesos received | The number your family actually sees in GCash |
| Transfer fee | Can be zero on promos, but check the rate |
| Rate vs reference | A rate far below today's reference hides a margin |
| Payment method fee | Cards often cost more than bank-funded transfers |
| Delivery time | Express vs economy options can change the price |
GCash generally doesn't charge the recipient to receive an international remittance through a partner, but cashing out or transferring to a bank from GCash can have its own fees. Check the GCash app.
First transfer promos to GCash
Many apps offer new customers a better rate or no fee on the first transfer, including to GCash. On 21 Oct 2026, Remitly's US page advertised a welcome rate and no fee on a first transfer, and Western Union advertised a 0 USD fee on a first online transfer (credit card payments excluded). Promos change often, so we keep a dated list on first transfer promos.
Common problems and how to avoid them
- Wrong number: double-check the 11-digit GCash number with your recipient by voice or chat, not from an old contact.
- Name mismatch: use the name on their GCash profile, including middle name if shown.
- Wallet limit reached: ask your recipient to check limits, or split the amount over two days.
- Account not fully verified: your recipient should complete verification in the GCash app before you send.
- Transfer stuck "in review": this is usually a compliance check. Reply to the provider's request for information quickly.
If money doesn't arrive, contact the provider you sent with first. They can trace it and, under US law, must investigate errors you report within 180 days.
GCash or bank deposit: which should your family use?
Both work. The right choice depends on how the money will be used.
GCash is better when the money is for daily expenses, bills and load, when your family lives far from a bank branch, or when they need it within minutes. Many sari-sari stores and partner outlets also let them cash out if they need physical pesos.
A bank deposit is better when the amount is large, when the money is savings, tuition or a loan payment, or when your family wants a paper trail for a visa or loan application. Bank accounts also don't have the low wallet caps that e-wallets do.
Some families do both: a monthly allowance to GCash for Nanay, and a quarterly transfer to a BDO or BPI savings account for the bigger goals. If you do this, set up both recipients in the same app so you can compare prices for each payout method on the same screen.
One more practical point: GCash can move money to a bank account through InstaPay, but that is a separate transfer with its own fee and limits. If the money is going to end up in a bank anyway, send it to the bank directly.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send money to GCash from the USA?
Yes. Several US remittance apps pay directly into GCash, including the official GCash partners listed for the US (Remitly, Western Union, Xoom, WorldRemit, MoneyGram, Ria, Panda Remit, Sendwave) and Wise. Choose mobile wallet or GCash as the delivery method and enter the recipient's GCash number.
What is the cheapest way to send money to GCash from the US?
It depends on the amount and how you pay. Compare the pesos received in two or three apps with the same amount and payment method. Bank-funded transfers are usually cheaper than card-funded ones, and first transfer promos can make a new app the cheapest option once.
Can I send to GCash from my US bank account?
Yes. Most apps let you link a US bank account (ACH) to fund the transfer, which is often the cheapest way to pay. GCash itself also offers a cash-in option from some US bank accounts, which you'll find in the GCash app under international partners.
How much can I send to GCash at once?
It depends on the app and on the recipient's GCash limits. Wise caps wallet transfers at 50,000 PHP each, and other apps set their own caps. For larger sums, send to a bank account.
Does my recipient pay a fee to receive money in GCash?
Usually not for receiving an international remittance from a partner. Fees can apply when they cash out at an outlet or move money from GCash to a bank. Check the GCash app for current fees.
Is it safe to send money to GCash from abroad?
Yes, when you use a licensed provider and an official GCash partner, and you send only to people you know. Scammers often ask OFWs to send to GCash numbers for fake fees or emergencies. Call your family member directly before sending to a new number.
