How we compare
This page explains where our numbers come from, how we decide what to show, and how money from partners does and doesn't affect it. Para malinaw: ang huling presyo ay laging nasa app ng provider.
Reference exchange rates
- Source: mid-market reference rates come from Frankfurter, a free service that publishes central bank reference rates. For the US dollar we also show the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas rate when Frankfurter includes it.
- Mid-market vs reference only: for currencies covered directly by central bank data (such as USD, GBP, CAD and JPY) we call the rate mid-market. For currencies Frankfurter calculates indirectly, such as the UAE dirham and Saudi riyal, we label the rate "reference only".
- Timestamps: every rate shows its source, the source's rate date and the time we last checked it in Philippine time (PHT, UTC+8).
- Freshness: we refresh reference rates at least twice a day. If our last successful check is more than 36 hours old, or the source hasn't published for several days, we hide the number and show it as unavailable. If a currency isn't covered, we say so instead of guessing.
- No copying: we don't copy rates from provider websites and we never type in rates by hand.
Provider prices
We plan to add provider price estimates from a licensed comparison data feed. When we do, each estimate will name its source and time, be labelled with the payment and payout method it applies to, and be hidden after 6 hours. Until then we show no provider prices and ask you to compare the pesos received in each app. Our guides explain how to work out your effective rate in a minute.
How tables are ordered
- Provider tables on our corridor pages are not ranked by price. They list services that serve that country, and say what each offers (bank, GCash, cash pickup).
- We include providers that don't pay us when they're relevant, so you see the real options.
- We only call something "cheapest" or "best rate" when the timestamped data behind that claim is on the same page.
How we check facts
Provider facts (sending countries, payout options, payment methods, licences, limits and promos) are checked against the provider's official website, help centre or published terms, and against regulators' public registers where possible. Each page shows when it was last reviewed. Promo pages are rechecked every week and expired offers come down. If we can't confirm a detail, we describe it in general terms or leave it out.
Review scores
Our reviews score each provider out of 5 on the same criteria, shown in a table on every review:
- payout options in the Philippines (bank, wallets, cash pickup, home delivery),
- sender countries that matter for Filipinos abroad,
- speed,
- price transparency (how clearly the rate, fee and pesos received are shown),
- licensing and disclosures.
The overall score is the simple average, rounded to one decimal. Scores are editorial judgments, not a price test, and whether a provider pays us plays no part.
Partners pay us
Some providers pay us a commission when you sign up through our links. This is how the site is funded. It never changes the price you pay and providers can't buy coverage, scores or placement. Our disclosure lists our current relationships.
